Stress Management

Stress is a physical, mental, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension. Stresses can be external (from the environment or social situations) or internal (psychological, illness, or from a medical procedure) (

When we are physically, psychologically and emotionally well, we can manage good and bad stressors, but when stressors increase, we can begin to feel overwhelmed, reducing our ability to manage stress – resulting in an inability to cope with daily demands. Stress unmanaged can lead to burnout, and burnout can lead to:

  • Increased risk of developing illnesses
  • Increased risk of experiencing anxiety, depression, low mood, poor sleep
